Welcome to Brushy Creek Montessori School. We are located in Cedar Park, Texas, serving the surrounding communities in Austin, Leander, Liberty Hill, and Round Rock. We opened our doors in the fall of 2008 fulfilling the vision of our owner, Mrs. Sungmin Rim, M. Ed. Since then, our Montessori preschool has evolved into what it is today through the accomplishments of our Montessori certified teachers, owner, and director.
Major Areas
There are seven major areas in the classroom: Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Math, Geography, Science and Art. Spanish and Chinese lessons are incorporated into our program. Extracurricular activities include an art education program through Abrakadoodle, Sportball, Soccer Shots, Kinderdance, TOT Ball, Tickled Ivories (a piano learning program), Tumble Bus, and gymnastics provided at Capital Gymnastics.
Our School
Our school is based on Dr. Maria Montessori's philosophy of education. We begin our program at the age of twelve months onward to the age of 9 years or third grade. The Montessori approach envisions education as "an aid to life". In the Absorbent Mind, Dr. Montessori wrote," The most important period of life is not the age of university studies, but the first one, the period from birth to the age of six. For that is the time when man's intelligence itself, his greatest implement is being formed." She called these times in a child's life, the Sensitive Periods. These are time periods when optimum learning of a specific skill can occur, such as language development, large motor development and reading. Our student's at Brushy Creek Montessori develop and embrace an appreciation and eagerness for learning and a positive self-esteem.
