Our mission at Brushy Creek Montessori School is to inspire curious minds, and to create a life-long love of learning in a safe and nurturing environment. By unlocking the child’s natural motivation to learn, it is our belief that we can make the world a better place one child at a time. Our goal is to have each child climb to his/her fullest potential in which the child feels fulfilled and proud of his accomplishments. We do this by encouraging problem solving, empathy for others, self-discipline, and self-sufficiency.
Each child is motivated to learn by independently choosing the work he/she is interested in with the guidance from our caring teachers. At Brushy Creek Montessori, we hold the teachers and children to meet their highest expectations. Our lead teachers are Montessori certified and our faculty have made a commitment to treat each child with love and respect. The goal of our teachers is to empower the child by giving them the tools and capability to be self-sufficient, in turn teaching them how to learn. The motto of our students is “help me to do it by myself”.
The classrooms at Brushy Creek Montessori are fully equipped with materials designed by Dr. Maria Montessori. They are made of wood and organic materials and designed to be attractive to the students captivating their interest to learn. "The hands," wrote Dr. Maria Montessori, "are the instruments of man's intelligence", and so the majority of learning is hands-on. There is a natural progression in the academics in which the student may advance at his/her own pace. The academic areas of focus include language, math, practical life, sensorial, science, and geography. Indirect aims include developing fine motor skills, balance, and grace; and most importantly, the life-long learning habit of focus and concentration.
The students at Brushy Creek Montessori are given the freedom of choice by selecting where they would like to work, which is done on individual tables or rugs in our spacious and orderly classrooms. Classrooms are arranged in multi-aged groupings so that the younger children learn from and are inspired by the older children and the older children boost their self-esteem by being role models for the younger children. Our Infant classroom is aged 12-21 months, Toddler classrooms are aged 22-36 months, Primary classrooms are aged 3-6 years and our Elementary classroom is aged 6-9 years old.
